BECOME A CPS APPROVED VOLUNTEER
Want to chaperone field trips and volunteer at Gray Elementary?
Make sure your CPS volunteer screening is completed for the upcoming school year!
Level 1 Fingerprinting Event at Gray
Gray Elementary is hosting a fingerprinting event on August 20 from 12 pm - 3 pm in the Upper Grade Building Gym for Level 1 volunteers.
Keep in mind that fingerprinting is just one of multiple steps to get Level 1 volunteer approval from CPS. Please follow the prompts from CPS, as this is on a first-come, first-served basis.
What to Know for the August 20 Fingerprinting Event
BEFORE the Event (Apply):
You must complete the online CPS application at least 48 hours before August 20 (see Step 1 under 'How to Apply' below). This ensures CPS has time to process your application and email your Fingerprint Authorization Form.
What to Bring on the Day of the Event:
◦ Valid, unexpired photo ID (driver's license, state ID, or passport)
◦ CPS Fingerprint Authorization Form (printed or available on your phone via email)
Cost:
Free! Fingerprinting for CPS Level 1 Volunteers is fully covered.
Note for Level 1 Volunteers:
◦ Fingerprinting is the first step.
◦ Volunteer applicants will also need to submit a negative TB test result (from the last 2 years) AND complete an online CPS training module to get final clearance.
◦ If you were a Level 1 Volunteer last year, we recommend attending because CPS requires annual fingerprinting for Level 1 Volunteers. Please apply online and plan to attend!

As we prepare for the new school year, please be aware that all volunteers are removed from the system at the end of June. If you would like to continue volunteering for field trips or other school activities, you will need to reapply when classes begin in August.
CPS requires all volunteers be approved prior to chaperoning fieldtrips or participating in school activities. It is recommended that potential chaperones begin the process a month before of a scheduled field trip or a school event.
Please Note:
-
To be approved, you must reapply each school year.
-
Your application is only complete if you select Gray Elementary.
-
A fingerprint criminal background check is not required for Level II Volunteers.
