Books, Books, and More Books!

Hello! I'll be closing out the orders for our Holiday Scholastic Book Order on December 1st so, if you haven't already, make sure you get yours in. Our last order earned our classroom library 18 new books! Thank you!

We'll also have the Gray School Book Fair the week of 11/18-11/22. The students can browse books in person and shop for their favorites during our Library time on Tuesday. Families can also visit the Book Fair Monday through Thursday from 3:00-3:30 PM. The fair closes on Friday at 2:00 PM. Mrs. Pappas will be able to accept cash or credit, or you can sign your child up for eWallet at https://www.scholastic.com/bf/WPGray

Finally, we'll begin our Read-a-Thon, which runs from Monday, December 2nd through Friday, December 20th. Our classroom goal is 1,000 reading minutes before December 20th. We can do it!

Awesome Auroras!

We had a lot of fun today and some of it centered around discussions of the Northern Lights. The students were fascinated by my pictures of the Smith family's adventure to chase the Northern Lights last night. We watched a Mystery Science video explaining auroras, looked at aurora pictures from around the Chicago area last night, and talked about light pollution. I love encouraging their curiosity about the world they live in, so I promised them I'd pass along some links to our favorite grown-ups for them to explore with you.

Enjoy their curiosity!

Science Collections and No School on Friday (9/27)

Hello, 208 Families! Just a quick reminder that this week is a four-day week.  The students do not have school on Friday, September 27th.  Also, we're collecting empty water bottles for our science experiment this week.  If you have any empty plastic water bottles (Gatorade or juice bottles will work also), please send them in with your learner.  We will conduct our experiment on Wednesday and then I'll recycle the bottles.

Have a great week!
