ABOUT GRAY » Technology Magnet Cluster Program

Technology Magnet Cluster Program

A Technology Magnet Cluster School integrates STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) throughout the curriculum. Gray Elementary focuses on practical training and utilization of specialized digital programs to prepare students for the world of tomorrow. In addition, computational thinking is a priority because this problem solving technique helps teach students to break down complex problems into smaller, manageable parts, and then develop clear solutions similar to the strategy that computer programmers use to write algorithms and programs. Our school wide technology focus includes digital resources, differentiated instruction, student creations, student progress monitoring, technology embedded in curriculum, technology used to enhance instruction, personalized learning programs, programs for student academic intervention, promethean board integration, connections between school and home, and communication through school app/website.

Fine Arts Program (Art, Music, Dance)

Gray has a fine arts team that implements programs to help students develop creativity, critical thinking, self confidence, a growth mindset, personal expression, collaboration skills, and to develop and foster cultural awareness and understanding. Through grants, partnerships, arts integration in classrooms, performances, arts exhibits, parent engagement, and increasing our students' minutes of arts programming per week, we have been able to steadily grow our Fine Arts programs.

Technology Education Program

Our technology education program includes computer programming, multimedia editing, productivity software, digital citizenship, internet safety, artificial intelligence, and learning about future technologies. Problem solving and collaboration are also important components of the curriculum. Students practice computational thinking processes and make active inquiries into their own learning. Gray has had the privilege of working with Google, Dyson, and Adobe and has showcased student projects. We appreciate corporate investment in student technology education.

Classes have Promethean Boards and utilize integrated iPads/ Chromebooks with technologically based curriculum with teacher and student access. Students at Gray, depending on grade level and needs, engage with many digital programs.
